Data Security

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

We really need to overhaul our data security strategy. I’m concerned that our data is vulnerable to attacks from the outside. Our network just isn’t secure.
So I’ve started learning about Information Security Management on my own. I think a full blown worst case analysis might help to move things along - it might give the guys upstairs an idea of just how much damage could be done.
Next time my proposal gets rejected, I should get them to promise to stay up with me in the racks for as long as it takes to fix the next disaster that comes along. Maybe that will give them some perspective.

When taking in a new employee into your organization, you have to very carefully explain the network security policies of your company to them. This is very important, because each organization has their own network security policies, and the policy of the place they are coming from might be quite different from yours. You have to also make sure that they understand all the clauses in the security policy of your company. Get your assurance by having them sign on the policy. You must always have a codified copy of your company’s network security policies ready when you are signing on an employee to your organization.
