Get free online business cards and save money

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

I am not in favor of spending lot of money on printing and stationery. I had heard of something like Free Online Business Cards and on searching the web I found few sites which were offering these free cards. I selected a template from ones offered by them and opted to get it printed and delivered by them at a very reasonable shipping and processing charges. Now I have my business card without shelling out lot of money on it and these are by no means less impressive than those designed by the professionals. I have suggested my friends and relatives to get their business cards in the same manner. You can also try out the same!

My Personal Experience With Lean Manufacturing Techniques

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

These past few days I’ve been tasked with researching
Lean Manufacturing Techniques for our company. So far, I’ve liked what I have learned.
From what I’ve read about Lean Manufacturing Classes, I think it could be worth the difficult adjustment in the end. It will be a tough road, though.
I’d much rather improve our efficiency locally than resort to mass layoffs our overseas outsourcing.
I’ll keep you posted.

Is a conference planning checklist a sheer waste of time?

Friday, June 13th, 2008

I considered preparing checklists etc. as a waste of time as I believed in doing all the work step by step and thus thought that nothing can be left out. It was when I forgot to reconfirm the speaker’s attendance for our product launch, that I realized the benefits of preparing a Conference Planning Checklist. Now I just put a tick mark against all completed work and leave a blank against something which is not yet done. This helps me in avoiding last minute rush and plan all my conferences and seminars in the most flawless manner. It in fact acts as my personal assistant in reminding me all the work that is to be done.

restaurant marketing strategies

More Options Needed

We really need to to figure out some more restaurant marketing strategies in order to get more customers into the door. I am worried that I will have to close my restaurant if I don't get some more customers. I am just barely making ends meet with all the expenses of the restaurant, and if anything were to go wrong I would not have the capital to fix the problem. I need to have some low cost marketing strategies that will help me get the word out to people about the restaurant so that we will have a little more working capital.

Logistics Freight Forwarding: The Future Is Bright

Friday, April 4th, 2008

The Logistics freight forwarding has improved greatly with companies like Freight Forwarders, Cargo Air Link, Logisuite LS2008, Tailwind, and many others. The services have branches in almost all states in the US. The Tailwind makes distribution of goods with the Boeing 737-200 air plane which is very spacious. Their planes are big enough for protective crating services. The transportation forwarding services from your logistics unit by trucking is also undertaken by some of the companies specializing in logistics freight forwarding. International cargo had been a big headache till the freight forwarders came with innovative plans.

Developing outsourcing strategy

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

One of the goals that I have for 2008 is to reduce operational costs for the sales department. Although we run tight budgets, current economic conditions require a further reduction in costs to meet operating budgets. I am working towards formulating a strategy for outsourcing. I have read some cases studies where companies have leverage outside expertise and reduced their cost base. This is exactly what I am trying to achieve so I am hoping that the information I have will allow me to develop the correct approach.

Six Sigma

Monday, February 18th, 2008

I’ve been bugging management lately about six sigma. I think our company would benefit greatly from six sigma programs - we’ve suffered from serious efficiency issues lately.
I’ve been surfing the net looking at options for a href=”http://www.si6ma.com/six-sigma-process.php”>Six Sigma Process. It’s not cheap, that’s for sure, but the potential cost savings look like they might justify the price.
If my former business partner’s experience is any indication, six sigma could really make a big difference for us in terms of the bottom line.

What are the basic concepts in connection to the theories of motivation, and how do they differ from the basic concepts when compared to cognitive theories of motivation? This question is asked in an organizational behaviourclass. Anyone knows the exact answer? Thanks.

Extra time spent on project design pays dividends

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

I was having coffee recently with a friend who is new to website development. I explained to her the importance of having properly defined project scopes. When the time is taken to consider project design specifications it usually indicates that the stakeholders have spent time developing their ideas to ensure the project is developed in accordance with the desired functionality. This is very important because projects are easily derailed if the stakeholder suddenly decides to change the specifications. Unless there is budget to compensate for this you can run the risk of cost blowouts.

Maintaining data integrity

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

Maintaining the integrity of data is essential for applications that depend on quality input and output. A classic example of this is sales or customer based applications that require accurate records. It is essential for firms to have backup procedures in place and to keep the data sound. In some organizations a central data repository is used to extract, store and update data. This information is used by different programs and divisions to extract meaningful data to assist with decision making. The biggest challenge for information technology staff is to manage the data life cycle. Data that is compromised can freeze internal systems, create system downtime and result in lost opportunities and profit.

Vertical Personnel Interaction As One Of The Activities To Promote Organiza

Monday, January 28th, 2008

There are a number of cases in the corporate history where highly successful organizations were brought from the pinnacle of success to the abyss of failure because the organizational culture was not developed keeping the vertical realities and aspirations in account. It is therefore necessary that regular personnel interactions on vertical scale must be organized. Organizational cultures are changing constantly, and it’s vital to keep up.

In the vertical interactions, the personnel mingle freely with each other without consideration to their position. The CEO might have casual interaction with a junior level operations executive who just joined some weeks back. This vertical interaction allows the management to stay in touch with aspirations of all levels of personnel and makes overall flow of business easy.

Preparation For Process Mapping

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

It is essential to prepare for the mapping business processes. Before process mapping, it is important to ensure the participation of people who actually do the work and also the supervisors and the customers of the process. The suppliers to the process should also be involved. The participation of all these people would ensure complete information. The goal of the organization should then be clearly stated and deadlines are set beforehand. It is also essential to set the limits of the process map before starting to construct the same.
